The International meeting of Action Art of the Pumarejo is an initiative from the Gallery Weber-Lutgen (Seville, Spain) with which it wants to acclimate an artistic activity that, although being connatural to the Andalusian soul, does not enjoy the knowledge and diffusion as to allow it to integrate the existing cultural panorama. We try to create a space for reflection, exchange and investigation that allows to develop and to project new kinds of thinking in contemporary art and that this takes place in the township of the Pumarejo. This district has been an alternative core of cultural resistance to the official culture from the eighties, and it it continues to be in the Panorama of the current economic crisis.

We from the JIAAP understand the art of action as something alife and therefore in permanent evolution. We will try to offer the full range of action art, from the orthodox to it's expansion in all fields of human creativity: dance, painting, architecture, poetry, video, painting, radio, new technologies, reactivity, cooking, etc.

In this edition the locations are both halls of the gallery, five spaces of the Centro Vecinal el Pumarejo and the Plaza itself. The activities, open air and indoor, will be carried out from Friday evening 27th January, Saturday the 28th forenoon and evening as well as Sunday morning, 29th.

We invite artists of any discipline and country to present their proposal in one or both sections of the JIAAP: Life-Action and Video-Action.

PROPOSALS OF LIFE-ACTION:

International meeting of Action Art of the Pumarejo (JIAAP) bet fundamentally on a format of simple work, with few technical means, almost minimal, so that the attention keeps concentrated on the work and at the person which acts. The maximum duration of actions it will be 25 minutes.

We will collect proposals until December 16th midnight. These will be studied by a committee of selection formed by Jesús Algovi, Isabel López Delgado and Maria AA: Two multidisciplinary artists and a museum curator licensed in history of art. The intention is to assure diversity of criterion.
On December 19th we will get in touch with the selected artisits in order to inform and get any supplementary information if needed. Programme will be published in web on January 9th 2012.

The proposal will consist of a descriptive text of the action, less than two pages (Arial, font size 12, simple space), containing: synopsis, annotations, conditions of lighting, sound and technologies in general, sketch if considered to be precise, estimated duration and dimensions or occupation of space. Join an updated artistic curriculum, that does not overcome two pages, a short auto presentation and three pictures (300 ppi, one side min. 10cm) of three performances already realized.

If you want to add a video or sonorous recording, these will have to get to the Gallery Weber-Lutgen, Calle Fray Diego de Cádiz 9b, 41003 Sevilla (Spain) before the above mentioned December 16th, indicating the matter " International meeting of Action Art of the Pumarejo" or to be sent using an online storage and files delivering service like Megaupload or Rapidshare (don't hesitate, ask for information or help if needed).

You have tree locations at your disposal:

A) The interior of the gallery, where you may use one or two of the rooms. We have uploaded images (doors with glass panels) to give you the right impression as well as a dimensional floor plan

and a video sweeping through the gallery.
The gallery relies on fluorescent daylight illumination (controlled by sections), some spots, 1 microphone, 2 video-projectors (2000 and 5000 lumen). There is also a room where you may change coat and shower.

B) The Centro Vecinal El Pumarejo (from 12:00 to 15:00 hours). You may see floor planes and images of the different spaces and a video rambing through it's interior.
In the web of the centre you may obtain information of activities, history of social and local fight as well as the groups that compose it.

Between the rooms 1 and 2 of the ground floor is installed screen (some 1,2 m) to recieve video-projection with sound. All gratings and curtains of the windows can be opened or closed on request. It has three small lavatorys where you may change.

C) We may use the half of the Pumarejo Plaza, which is situated farther from the Centro Vecinal in front of the pink building. You have a magnificent 360 º view here.

We regret that up to now we are not able to tell if we could contribute in any way to your expenses. We are working to obtain subsidies for travel, overnight stay and meals. As soon as we receive positive answer of any kind you will be informed by web or/and personal mail (if you already contacted us).
Any way we may dispose of some housing in private houses and a near hostel that has done a small price reduction specially for this event.

In both blocks, life action and video-actions, the gallery and the curator compromise themselves with every participant to:
- Create a space within the home page of the gallery with:
* The detailed programme
* Report within max 12 hours by video and photographies of the works as they are realized.
* Put the material on video already edited, in reasonable span, after conclusion of the meeting where they will remain at least for the period of one year.
- Issue of certificate of participation.
- To facilitate the whole raw material, video and photo, generated during the execution of the action.
- Edition of a DVD with the published material of both sections of the meeting.
- Catalogue in Pdf (and if we get funding, also printed)

Every participant will sign a document authorizing the utilization of any material sent as well as recorded (video / photos / audio) obtained during the days to be published in the DVD and the above mentioned web space or any other activity of the gallery .It contains also a declaration to realize the presented and not a different project.

You will download, print and sign it. Your signature will be put with blue ink preceded with the handwritten text "well-read, understood and accepted ".

VIDEO-ACTIONS will be gathered until midnight December 23rd , 2011. Every shipment has to be accompanied by the authorization to use the recordings, to be reproduced during the meeting, in the catalogue, the DVD, the web and any another activity in conjunction to the days of the gallery.

As the final digital documentation of the JIAAP II will be edited in PAL VOB 720x576 at 25 frames per sec and at an aspect ratio 16:9, we urge you to send us the material in this format. Should this not be possible, would we be pleased to receive your work in a higher resolution or in "edit" quality to enable us to produce and spread an optimal final edition of your work.
There is no limit in number nor duration of the creations you present.

The DVDs will be sent with the above described authorizations to the following postal address: Gallery Weber-Lutgen; C/Fray Diego de Cádiz, 9bajo; 41003 Seville; Spain. Please indicate as matter: International Summons of Action Art of the Pumarejo / Video. As an alternative we recommend to use an online storage and file delivering service like Megaupload to send us your work (ask for instructions if needed). In this case would you please send the needed authorisation duly completed as mentioned above, scanned by e-mail. Don#39t forget to send the original by mail.

Las Jornadas Internacionales de Arte de Acción del Pumarejo son una iniciativa anual independiente de la Galería Weber-Lutgen de Sevilla con las que desea naturalizar una actividad artística que, siendo tan cercana al modo de ser y vivir en Andalucía, no goza sin embargo de un conocimiento y difusión que le permitan integrarse a su panorama cultural con naturalidad.

Intentamos crear un espacio para la reflexión, intercambio, experimentación e investigación que permita desarrollar y proyectar las nuevas formas de pensamiento del arte contemporáneo y que éste se sitúe y contextualice en el barrio del Pumarejo. Este barrio tiene la particularidad de haber sido núcleo de resistencia cultural alternativo a la cultura oficial desde los años ochenta, y lo sigue siendo en el panorama de crisis económica actual.

Desde las JIAAP entendemos el arte de acción como algo vivo y por lo tanto en permanente evolución. Procuraremos ofrecer el abanico completo de expansión del arte de acción, desde la mas ortodoxa a sus expansiones en todos los campos de la creatividad humana: danza, pintura, arquitectura, poesía, video, pintura, radio, nuevas tecnologías, reactividad, cocina, etc.

En esta edición las localizaciones se enmarcan dentro de las dos salas de la galería, los cinco espacios del Centro Vecinal el Pumarejo y la propia Plaza. Las actividades se desarrollarán desde la tarde del viernes 27, sábado 28 mañana y tarde y domingo 29 por la mañana. Al aire libre y en interior.

Invitamos a artistas de cualquier disciplina y país a presentar sus propuestas en las dos secciones de las JIAAP: Acción en vivo y video-acciones.

PROPUESTAS DE ARTE DE ACCIÓN EN VIVO:

Las Jornad as Internacionales de Arte de Acción del Pumarejo (JIAAP) apuestan fundamentalmente por un formato de trabajo sencillo, con pocos medios técnicos, casi mínimal, en el que la atención recaiga concentrada en al trabajo y la propia persona que acciona. La duración máxima de las acciones será de 25 minutos.

Recogeremos propuestas hasta el día 16 de diciembre (incluido) hasta las 24:00 horas. Estas serán estudiadas por un comité de selección formado por Jesús Algovi, Isabel López Delgado y la comisaria María AA: Dos artistas multidisciplinares y una conservadora de museo licenciada en Historia del Arte. La intención perseguida es lograr que haya diversidad de criterio. El día 19 nos pondremos en contacto con lxs seleccionadxs para informales y que nos envíen alguna información suplementaria (si es necesaria). La programación aparecerá publicada en la web el 9 de enero de 2012.

La propuesta constará de un texto descriptivo de la acción que no supere dos páginas fuente Arial de 12 puntos a espacio sencillo en la que figure: sinopsis, anotaciones, condiciones de iluminación, sonido y técnicas en general, croquis si se consideran precisos, duración estimada y dimensiones u ocupación del espacio. Se acompañará de un currículum artístico actualizado que no supere las dos páginas, un texto de presentación y tres imágenes de tres performances realizadas distintas (que midan 10 cms como mínimo en uno de sus lados, a 300 ppi). Si se desea acompañar de video o grabación sonora, estos deberán llegar a la Galería Weber-Lutgen, Calle Fray Diego de Cádiz 9b, 41003 Sevilla (España) antes del mencionado día 16 de diciembre, indicando el asunto "Jornadas Internacionales de Arte de Acción del Pumarejo" o bien enviarse empleando servidores de almacenamiento y descarga online como pueden ser megaupload, rapidshare o similares (pedid información de cómo se usan si lo necesitáis).

Las acciones cuentan con tres localizaciones posibles:

A) El interior de la galería, en una o dos de las salas.En la propia web pueden verse imágenes del interior. Ponemos a vuestra disposición también su plano acotado e imagenes del exterior (escaparates) que os podéis descargar

y un video para verla circulando por su interior aquí.
La galería cuenta con iluminación de tipo fluorescente luz diurna homogénea en todo el espacio (controlada por tramos), algunos focos, 1 micrófono, 2 proyectores de 2000 y 5000 lúmenes respectivamente. Asimismo cuenta con una habitación con ducha en la que poder cambiarse si es necesario (consultar el plano) para uso de los artistas que intervengan cada día.

B) (En horario de 12 a 15 horas) El Centro Vecinal El Pumarejo. Os facilitamos planos e imágenes de los diferentes espacios y un video circulando por su interior. En su web podéis conseguir información de sus actividades, colectivos que la integran y su historia de lucha social y vecinal
El centro cuenta con una pantalla de proyección pequeña entre lo que hemos llamado la sala 1 y 2 de la planta baja, con equipo de sonido. A todas las ventanas se le pueden quitar o poner las rejas y cortinas. Tiene tres servicios pequeños en los que poder cambiarse.

C) (En horario de 12 a 15 horas) La Plaza del Pumarejo. Podemos utilizar la mitad alejada del Centro Vecinal, donde está el edificio rosado. Tenéis una magnifica vista en 360º aquí.

Desde la organización lamentamos mucho no poder asegurar aun en estas fechas que podremos cubrir los costes de viaje ni alojamiento de las personas que vengan. Seguimos trabajando para conseguir subvenciones que los cubran. Tan pronto como recibamos una respuesta positiva al respecto lo comunicaremos a través de la web y en mails personales a lxs que se hayan puesto en contacto con nosotrxs.
En cualquier caso disponemos de alojamiento en casa de particulares y un hostal del barrio que nos ha hecho un precio reducido.

En ambos apartados, el de las acciones en vivo y las video-acciones, la galería y la comisaria se comprometen para con cada participante a :
- Habilitar un espacio web con:
* La programación detallada.
* Reportaje casi simultáneo en video y fotografías de los trabajos a medida que se van realizando.
* El material en video ya editado en un plazo de tiempo razonable una vez concluidas las jornadas y en donde donde permanecerán por el periodo de al menos un año.
- Emisión de certificado de participación.
- Facilitar todo el material en bruto de video y foto generado durante la realización de la acción.
- Edición de DVD con el material editado de las dos secciones de las jornadas.
- Catálogo en Pdf (y si es posible impreso)

Cada participante firmará un documento de autorización de utilización de las grabaciones (video/fotos/audio) enviadas junto con las propuestas para ser publicadas como material informativo y promocional en prensa, programa de mano, catalogo, el DVD, la web o cualquier otra actividad de la galería. Asi mismo, cada participante firmará una declaración de responsabilidad por la que se compromete a realizar el proyecto presentado y no otro (ver anexo).
Lo tendréis que descargar e imprimir, escribir a mano con tinta azul en donde corresponde "leído, entendido y aceptado" y firmar. Enviar por correo postal y escaneado por e-mail.

Para la PROGRAMACIÓN DE VIDEO-ACCIONES:

Se recogerán grabaciones hasta el día 23 de diciembre de 2011 (incluido) que deberán acompañarse de una pequeña presentación de 500 caracteres (con espacio), currículum opcional (de no más de dos páginas), una foto (retrato), urls a vuestra web y/o canales de video, blogs, etc, asi como de un documento de autorización de utilización del material enviado para ser reproducido en los días de las jornadas, en el catálogo-DVD, la web de la galería y cualquier otro uso que tenga que ver con las jornadas.

(ver modelo de autorización anexo). Lo tendréis que descargar e imprimir, escribir a mano con tinta azul "leído, entendido y aceptado" y firmar. Enviar por correo postal y escaneada por e-mail. La programación aparecerá publicada en la web el 9 de enero de 2012.

Rogamos que el material se entregue en PAL, a 25 fps y en formato .VOB en 16:9. Si no es posible en dicho formato y proporción, preferimos que nos lo enviéis en la mayor resolución posible o en calidad edición, lo que nos permitirá hacer un montaje para mostrarlo que tenga mejor calidad. No hay limite de número de creaciones que pueden presentarse ni en la duración de las mismas.

Los DVDs se enviarán junto a las autorizaciones a la Galería Weber-Lutgen. c/Fray Diego de Cádiz, 9b. 41003. Sevilla, señalando como asunto: Convocatoria Internacional de Arte de Acción del Pumarejo. Como alternativa recomendamos usar servidores de almacenamiento y descarga online tipo megaupload (pedir instrucciones si se necesita).
